What happened to the AI evaluated score estimator for spectators? Recently I’ve been using it as a quick way to improve my positional judgement by selecting a random active game, estimating the score myself and then asking the AI evaluation but it seems like the smart score estimator is gone.

They had to add an IP check to prevent players from using the smart estimator in their own ongoing games by opening the game in a private window. I’m not sure why but this check does seem to be a bit over-eager in my experience, too.

It’s a bit strange, sometimes the smart SE works, sometimes we only get the weak SE.
Yes I agree with that and I think that’s a good check, however these are other people’s games so I’m not sure why it’s getting the basic score estimator there.
Normally you should get the good SE as spectator and the bad as player (until the game being finished). Isn’t that it?
