Can you tell me how to contact a mod? My adversary was stalling. It must have been deliberate.
some stallers are actually just new users who play before trying to get any knowledge
… and then some are just players who play perfectly legitimate moves on “neutral” intersections before passing, some of which are simple Dame spots, whereas others expose Teire (i.e. a weakness in the opponent border).
(Forgive me if that’s not the case here but the system has accused me a few times of stalling because I play that way before passing, as I was taught that it is polite to close all neutral intersections (those that are between the opponents’ borders).)
System doesn’t accuse anyone. When someone pass 3 times in a row while score difference is big special button appears.
Well, IMNVHO, when I play perfectly legitimate moves while my opponent passes three times in succession, that big special button appearing and the system deciding the game (even if it decided in my favour) is an accusation ![]()
game suddenly stops only when someone press that button
system just writes who is ahead, it doesn’t write who is staller
some users press that button for wrong reason
also there is rare bug when game wasn’t suddenly stopped but system writes who is ahead anyway while no one pressed that button, its a bug.
I’ve had it twice or three times meanwhile, when it was exactly like I described above, namely that I played on the remaining neutral intersections while my opponents passed, and then the system decided who won, not simply who was ahead, and IIRC twice it was my victory.
Just so no one gets the wrong impression from this thread, filling dame is not a stalling violation regardless of the ruleset; that is guideline #3 in the CM guidelines for stalling. Also, the fact that a game ends by a server decision is not evidence that stalling has occurred (#10 in the stalling guidelines), which is why the system does not issue a warning. The purpose of the server decision is to end games that are judged to be hopeless (I think it needs to have a 99% win prediction, but I may be wrong about the exact figure).
What are the stalling guidelines?
Well, but in such cases it still is wrong to let the server decide, IMO, because humans should have the privilege to end a game properly.
I’m not arguing that at all. That has already been extensively discussed when anoek introduced the feature. I just did not want newbies to think that the system was was actually judging stalling per se, nor think that the system was issuing warnings.
