Supporters tally fluctuations

I’ve been away for a few months but I’ve noticed the Site supporters page changes rather dramatically at times.

Are dozens of people really starting / cancelling their subscriptions or is the bot misrepresenting once off payments instead of spreading them across, say, an entire calendar year?
