Black B5 wins the poll!
Time to discuss white next move.
Everyone welcome to join.
A sequence for the reduction had been worked out months ago.
wC7 bB4 wC6(or wD6)
It should be pretty straight forward.
Yes, and we have concluded that white B4 is worse than C7:
Is there a way that White’s double-peep at C6 could make things more interesting? Or does that open the door to bad possibilities for White?
If white plays C6, black can answer with C7 to save the two stones D7 D8. White follows up with pushing into B6 doesn’t work, black can connect underneath at A6, and have a more effective reduction.
B4 was the next move included in the sequence (and then white D6)
I will try to put these moves next day on poll unless another suggestion come in between ofc.
I agree with Black B4 here. The “alternative” C6 doesn’t seem to work, because white will start a capturing race with B4 and blacks group is short on liberties. After Black B4 I would expect White to play C6 next.
Suggestion noted for next white move
b C6 looks “cool”
If it works yes, if not. …
I put a variation in the demo, seems not working to me (just checked again as it was a conclusion from long ago.)
black can’t cut because of the throw-in at d6
C6 seems like more points, but D6 increases the aji of black’s defect around H8, so D6 may increase white’s control over the game a little bit. And I feel white needs control more than a few extra points.
C6, D6. Anything else?. I’ll post the poll in 1/2 day if so.
