The correct way to approach how a beginner should learn Go

You may have a point here, cause there is way called Neyagawa Method, which starts with a 4x4 board, into 5x5 (no tengen for the first move), 6x6 before moving to 9x9, 13x13 and finally 19x19. Here, as in a 4x4 board, the first move is a endgame move and the beginner probably finds out right away that the second line is the place to play, and, after a few games, how the fifth move (i.e. the first move on the first line) affects the outcome of the game. The opening has little room to matter until the board becomes bigger.
By this way, the beginner could naturally incorporate the opening as he moves up the board.

Nice! Where could I play a 4x4 game?

I’ve found this site where you can play 5x5, but that is the smallest I’ve ever found.

Cheers

Ummm. Right here at OGS. You can use ‘Create’ custom game on the play page. Has to be unranked though.
