The Sommelier Game

Yeah, I mean, a Go appreciation thread might be fun in the same way as art or music appreciation. I might start one when I find the time.

This looks very recent. The orthodox opening became popular in the 1990s, but with the splitting move. The inside approach became common only in the 2000s, and the pros were pincering regularly through the late 2000s. So the probable range is 2009-2016.

2010s

Would it be for posting professional (or equivalent) games, modern or historical, which the poster found particularly noteworthy? If so, that sounds like a good idea.

I am out of this game too, but still enjoy reading the whole.
One for dummies, sure, although not sure how to do it?

I won’t post the answer yet because only one person has guessed. @bugcat @Jhyn @dachen11?

Ok, I guess no one wants to guess. @mark5000 would have probably got it anyway. This was 2012 mejin, Hane Naoki as black and Yamashita Keigo as white.

Another (belated) round, anyone?

It declares 6.5 komi in the game information display, but that’s just OGS filling in after I deleted the komi tag in the SGF. I tried to reupload it with komi as “?” but the SGF library threw an error.
