Through the Years: Long Correspondence

Legit anoek should be spending more time on the spell checker on this thing and less on “move errors” and stuff.

Last week there was a single game where 13 moves were played!
One game had 5 moves, another one 3 moves, two game had 4 moves each.
16 games had two moves each.
5 games had just one move each.
14 games had no moves at all.

It makes a sum of 66 moves.

If to include is not a verb, then tell me what it is.

I’m really not in the mood for your mansplaining.

Wow, where is that really? You may feel bad on me, but i guarantee you nothing about men vs women thing in that.

This thread was a nice place for me.
Comments from last days are full of arguments and hostility.
That makes me very sad.

verb was right there in the middle

Six days later, no changes. Still at 10k completed games.

But I have a good candidate for next completed game.

This game had 20 moves this week and 13 last week, so it’s the quickest game among the 38.
It’s also on move 218, so quite advanced.

These increments are very visible in this chart:

On X axis is time, on Y axis overall moves.
The dots size is proportional to the number of moves since last update.
No dot, no moves.

Hey, cool, a new graphic!

The chart reminds me of electron shell excitation energies for some reason.

We have capacitor curves and now electron shell energies. Moving up in complexity. String theory next?

Nine days later:

  • 36 games left, 53 players involved, 16 groups
  • 2 completed games
  • 1 player resigned
  • 3 players completed all their games
  • 1 groups completed all its games

That was quick! The game’s over: they went to counting, black won by 6.5 pts.
The other game ended by resignation.
The player that resigned from tournament wasn’t involved in either game.

11 games are paused. 10 of them because of 4 players in vacation.

14 days later, no game is finished in the meanwhile.
One player resigned from the tournament though.

Talking about moves: this game was idle in previous updates, but had 14 moves in the last 14 days.

This game had 5 moves

This is the game with most moves so far and had 4 more in the last two weeks:

Hey, just found this thread. My game vs txo is the most advanced game apparently, we’re in a super tight endgame but it feels like we’re going to be done soon (up to move 279 now and running out of choices, we’ve really picked up the pace).

I have loved this tournament.

One player resigned from tournamet.
55 moves over 18 games.

Highlights:

  • 8 moves in the most advanced game, which is now on move 280
  • 13 moves in a single game, now on move 178

Tournament Game: Through the Years: Long Correspondence (59567) R:1 (kavias vs SlowLarry)

  • 6 moves in a game that was idle in the last 7 weeks

Tournament Game: Through the Years: Long Correspondence (59567) R:1 (tikka vs 9981)

I’m still working on a meaningful visualization. Here is what I have now:

The chart is the same as before (10 posts above) but new colours should make it more readable and more data should make it more interesting.
