Translation of "Pass"

I noticed that the button “Pass” is translated “Předat” in Czech language, which is very confusing and non-understandable. It means something like “hand over”. For example “předat tah”, i.e. “hand over the (right to) move” would be better, and relatively natural in Czech.

To be honest, I am not sure what the best translation would be; maybe “Pass (vynechat tah)”, which means “Pass (skip a move)”. But even the untranslated “Pass” would imho be much better than the current state.

I am writing here because I tried to fix it, but in Translate | Online-Go.com | Czech | Online-Go.com Translation Server I cannot see the “Pass” entry, I see ca. ten other entries.

Why am I not seeing the “Pass” entry, please? And what can I do to help?

It’s odd that “Pass” is not appearing in the translation server - I can confirm that … @anoek?

(It is correctly set up in the code to be translated, as far as I can see).

I’ve done a bit of translation for Estonian and I mostly also only want to translate certain screens or use cases. Your milage may vary, but a potentially useful way to find the strings is clicking trough the source code in GitHub and finding the files they sound like they might control the part of the site you want to translate. You don’t need any coding skills at all for this btw.

For example, since you want to find the string for pass, I’d start looking down from the src/views directory for things that sound like they would be relevant:

And just looking at the names I think it’s probably src/views/Game/PlayControls.tsx

Or there are also some files right next to it about PlayButtons that sound like they could also have the pass button in there.

Anyway, based on that, in the translate app if you change the search bar to only search for “Locations” (options should pop out if you click on the search bar) and search for:

views/Game/Play

And then you should get all the strings from those modules, including the pass button.

I suspect this is the unit that needs to be fixed: Translate | Online-Go.com | Czech | Online-Go.com Translation Server

Hah - the search is case sensitive!!

(it does say that it is, it is an option, I just didn’t notice!)
