Unexpected behavior in demo board

I had a sub-optimal experience using a demo board recently…I don’t think this is intentional behavior. Just bringing it to the devs attention.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Create a demo board
  • Play out a game with branches, comments, stuff and things
  • Rewind to the game beginning. (I have no clue what possessed me to do that)
  • Change the game information, e.g. name, players or whatever. (I had figured that I could do it whenever so had skipped). Save updated game info.
  • Bam, all moves disappear. You are regret.
  • Reenter all the moves and stuff and things. It’s always faster the second time

Now comes the really fun part!:

  • Create a new demo board and experiment
  • Confirm that yes, the moves do in fact appear to evaporate when game info changes
  • Close the board and reopen. Oh ffs, the moves reappear lol. They only seemed to have evaporated while you were in the demo.

Not proud to say I’m using MS Edge if that makes any difference.

(to be slightly more accurate, saving updated game info appears to truncate moves after whatever move you’re on. (and also appears to evaporate any branches other than the one you’re on))

Yeah, it is a known (at least by me) issue. Empty variation is created when saving changes in demo board game information · Issue #2447 · online-go/online-go.com · GitHub
