What if I told you it was possible to play without a grid on ogs?

Great! Thanks, @Tesujitarian and @Atorrante :pinched_fingers:

Actually, you just need to press this button and it will work. You can choose different image that you want.

It was clear to them and me as well.

If you want exactly the background you proposed it’s less steps. But if someone wants a personal color, they’ll have to make an image with a transparent border, right?

But the main thing was that I questioned why you saw it as a comment at your expense, because I didn’t see it as such and I didn’t want you to stop posting here over a misunderstanding.

I think the observed behavior (in terms of the method that @Tesujitarian suggests) may be unintended behavior (but let’s call it a feature rather than a bug).

I was able to reproduce the steps to get the grid (but not the star points and coordinates) to disappear on Chrome, Firefox and Brave, but it seems that the specific steps need to be clarified:

  1. Select the customized board option:

  1. Click on the reset grid color button:

Notes:

  • You do not need to upload a custom image to get this to work.
  • Just clicking on the reset grid color button does not seem to work, if you instead have a preset board theme selected (i.e., there is no “blue box” indicating that you have selected the customized board option).

Here’s a fun background image to use for 19x19 with no coordinates:

Just in case it isn’t obvious: in this case, you play inside the lines, not on the lines.
