Who do we need to speak with to get default Komi on smaller boards changed?

Default komi for smaller boards should be higher

The current default komi for 9x9 and 13x13 games is 5.5 for both territory-based and area-based rules. Through AI analysis by Katago, it appears that the fairest komi for territory scoring is 6, and for area scoring is 7, on both 9x9 and 13x13 boards. The current default komi is especially unfair under area-based rules where the difference from the (probable) optimum is 1.5 points.

Just signed up for OGS, I’m coming from GoQuest, very serious 9x9 player. I’ve played thousands of 9x9 games with 7 komi and have had balanced win rates at 7 komi. If you sample a group of frequent GoQuest players playing 9x9 with 7 komi you’ll find that on average the win rate is 50/50 (with a minority of ties) Self-play from KataGo also shows that 7 komi with chinese rules is balanced. since I believe I merged two threads discussing the same thing.

Presumably the proposal is to change to

• 7.5 (or 7) for area rules, Chinese, New Zealand, AGA
• 6.5 for Japanese and Korean
• I have no idea for Ing rules.

I’m not sure everyone would necessarily agree with 7 over 7.5 although it is supposed to be standard for example for New Zealand rules.

Similarly though, one might want to agree on what should happen to the komi for handicaps? Should that be bumped by one or two or?
