Just wondering… Now its so hidden, and ok, it needs some updating, but would be very welcoming to newcomers don’t you think?

Indeed. The lack of documentation is a longstanding issue of our glorious site. However the old readme is way too outdated to be more gain than pain.
Unfortunately getting it up to date is a lot (probably too much) of work for one person (especially since the website is changing fast). However if anyone is willing to help with it, send me a PM and given enough people we will organize some community driven update.

It is already “wiki” style editable (the suggested changes just need approvement). However I am afraid a more organized approach would be needed to really do something about it
