Why did black do this here?

hi to all,
this game I recently played and I was white, was weird.
why look at the 49th move that balck did. he could kill my group. why did he play like that?

My guess would be that move 49 was some sort of misclick.

no he spent 5 minutes for that,
it canā€™t be a misclick

Misread then.

Why not? It even happened to the world champion 3 years ago. When he adjusted his mouse location, the mouse cable accidentally touched the touchpad on his laptop.

We can all speculate until we are blue in the face, but only your opponent in this game knows why. So ask your opponent?

I thought maybe the left group of mine were uncapturable.

On move 49, black should have just captured at A4, which also kills whiteā€™s C4 stones.

Black should have played A4 and then your group B5 is dead.

When I see my opponent make a move like this in my games, i normally offer to let them undo, because I assume itā€™s a misclick. Sometimes itā€™s not, and I just donā€™t understand the move!

This isnā€™t a requirement; you never have to offer undo, I just personally like to because if I win I donā€™t like having the thought ā€œI only won because they misclack (new past-tense of ā€˜misclickā€™ iā€™ve decided to coin right now)ā€ and thatā€™s not a good feeling for me.

Iā€™ve miscluck (past-perfect tense of ā€˜misclickā€™ iā€™m also coining right now) after longer intervals of time. If you spend 5 minutes reading, that in no way improves the accuracy of your clicking ability. Thinking and mouse technique arenā€™t necessarily directly related.

Also if you donā€™t know who your opponent is, you canā€™t even know that they were reading the whole time. They may have walked away to do something, or gotten distracted.

Thatā€™s a great attitude. Many donā€™t ever expect to become a misclicois, but we must ultimately accept that we all are.

It can be a move of disappointment be done conscientiously or not, against you or himself. Or even some kind of resignation in front of complexity. Although itā€™s not that deep reading involved, perfectly suited to the level of both players.

Note that J7 was useless (overcautious) and may be a first step in confusion. Let say he noticed that it was useless so next situation he would be inclined to avoid to play again a useless move. He checks your move, say itā€™s useless and decide to play a no value move himself. But it was useless only if he answered.

I see you timed out immediately after that move. Had you run out of time anyway, or did that move confuse you so much?

Edit: Sorry, I mixed up the coloursšŸ˜ž

Their opponent timed out. OP won.

opponent misclack
with kindness I grant undo
they may taste attack

Sorry for random haiku, I just thought misclack was too good not to use.

I looked at the game as a whole, I want to recommend this video for getting some starting basics.

yes I agree,
but I waited him to request for undo,
and he didnā€™t.
thatā€™s why I still donā€™t think it was a mislick.

yeah agree
