Why is there no "i" in the alphabetical axis?

Is this typical of Go, or is this unique to Online-Go? I couldn’t find anything on Google. It’s a strange ommission. I know uppercase “i” can look similar to a lowercase “L,” but with the font Online-Go uses it should be fine.

See Coordinates at Sensei's Library

Note: Historically the letter I is not used to avoid confusion with J.

Is there a way to change that user-side in one’s settings?

As far as I know (and I’m almost sure of it) no

You can switch to numbers if that’s more agreeable. (one axis is Hanzi)

Thank you guys. The convention is a little confusing if you’re a new player who has the alphabet’s numerical equivalents memorized, lol. Thanks for the suggestion; I’ll try out Hanzi. I started playing to learn new things, after all!

Although it’s confusing to start with, I’m pretty sure it will me much more confusing when mentioning a coordinate to your opponent and they interpret it differently than you (or the other way around).

I haven’t checked how that works actually, whether the auto link/coordinate thing changes in the chat depending on what coordinates you’ve chosen. Does it?

No I’m pretty sure only A10 format moves get the special treatment.
