I’ve made some updates to the Ladders wiki page, following some recent changes to the code.

You can’t challenge someone again within seven days of finishing your last game against them. This prevents small groups of players always playing each other and aims to encourage movement on the ladder.

Are you sure about that?

In regards to auto-vacation:

Timing-out in a Ladder

In a ladder game, when your clock reaches the point when it has only 15 minutes left, “Auto-
vacation” automatically puts you in vacation mode. This prevents you timing out and losing the > game.

It’d be good if this were able to avoid implying that Auto-vacation applies specifically and exclusively to ladder games. (That is not the case: auto-vacation applies to all correspondence games, other than specific exemptions such as “exempted tournaments”)

This might be as easy as rewording the first sentence to “Auto-vacation applies to ladder games”.

There is a cooldown period, but not sure if it’s 7 days or bidirectional.

I can challenge tons of positions above me

It seems like the max ten positions higher rule was wrong. I’ve deleted it. The 40% rule seems to apply though.

I have fixed the broken links, but am not sure if “correspondence games” actually requires a redirection elsewhere, especially since the linked page is not really clealrly about corr games.

Maybe a simple parenthesis would work better? Something like:

(games played asynchronously over several days)

According to our old readme it used to be 7 days.

I sort of doubt this got changed, so maybe it could be good enough of a guess, unless somebody has time to dig deeper

(and also:)

• 10 positions higher than you: you can challenge anyone up to 10 positions above you.

that additional rule exists so it’s possible to challenge the 1st place

Thanks for clarifying. It wasn’t obvious whether the 40% and 10 limits were AND or OR. They must be OR, as you say, otherwise, when you get near the top of the ladder, 40% would give too few ranks you could challenge.
