I knew that windows 11 is evil. Since 10 it is impossible to choose by manual which updates to install. Win 8.1 was the best.

Apparently Microsoft still recommends updating. If anyone feels concerned, or has drives that are reportedly affected, you can pause updates if you go to Settings > Windows Update

Believe me it doesn’t work.

The best solution in Windows 10 is to prohibit autoupdates via group policy

But it still doesn’t let you to choose which updates to install via GUI. And sometimes corrupted microsoft versions of nvidia display drivers still leak out.

Hey guys,

Debian 13 is released!

just saying…

Well. I also run a Linux – in a VM, like the Windows 11 I was talking about above … both Virtual Machines run on macOS as host system :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

What I actually mean to say is that your comment is totally off-topic

You can perceive it both as off-topic and on-topic i guess … just don’t take it too serious… it was more meant as a funny remark and a little nudge. It has some truth in it though.

I’d like to encourage people making the switch .. it’s doable. If someone is reading this who is not so tech savvy and wants to try linux better choose a distro like Ubuntu or Mint.

Does SSD still degrade faster due to the update inside VM in this scenario? How is it possible?

I don’t know, none of the sources I read mentions such a scenario – I just wanted to pass on the warning.
