1st game of an experiment

Hi folks,

I kindly ask for a review by a SDK or Dan-player: https://online-go.com/game/5280268. We both used the Malkovich log. For the history please have a look at Experiment

Thanks in advance!

Dear @acepoint and @trohde,

Thanks, guess I’ll get myself a new user account :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Don’t do it. Think of all your forum badges :scream:

edit: Oh, they’re called badges, not badgets

Excellent “mini-review!” I only want to point out that the opening was identical to a game played by top professional players Liu Xing 7p and Choi Cheolhan 9p until move 13. I would hesitate to call any move before that a mistake or even a minor inaccuracy. I read somewhere that western Go players tend to overestimate the importance of Go proverbs like “play on the wider side.” It can be a useful guideline but it’s definitely not a hard and fast rule.

@Animiral Thx a lot! I just went through your review, and I’m impressed how much is still to say about such a short game.

@mark5000 That’s exactly what this experiment is also about. I want to test how far a DDK can go by using proverbs and general principles or guidelines. See Experiment for a more detailed explanation.

My conclusion for now: in the opening it helps a lot to get a somewhat decent position compared to games where I had no idea about these principles. In the middle game it’s getting more and more difficult to sort things out.
