The only interesting BBC article about this for me so far:

2020 was a stale croissant, 2021 is shaping up to be a sack of lettuce left in the sun, 2022 will probably be just expired brine.

Youā€™ve just got to look on the bright side and make that croissant into meatloaf, use the lettuce to test ph levels, and use the brine to sabatoge your opponentā€™s TPU the day before a big tournament!

2021 also brought us a disappointing settlement for the Fyre Festival class action lawsuit.

Fyre Festival was so wild I feel itā€™s somehow an irregularity that it didnā€™t happen in 2020.

Something tells me this will get big. Like, bigger than football big.

I donā€™t get all the hate on this league idea, but then Iā€™ve never been into football.

Whatā€™s wrong with them creating their own league?

Not every penny goes to UEFA.
Also regulations, player availability, other conflicts etc.
But basically, not every penny goes to UEFA. They donā€™t like that.

Also, if I understood correctly, every team in that new league will get 3,5 billion up front for COVID-19 related stuff. Unprecedented.

Iā€™m also in the class of people who donā€™t understand the issue at all. But Iā€™ve no idea where money comes from or goes to at the moment and I suspect that Iā€™m not interested enough to learn. However, I also fear that Iā€™ll get to hear all about it anyway!

Super league is great for the fans

Another football news, JM sacked. I am a huge fan of him, but afraid his day is over.

Even a lot of fans of the clubs involved are opposed to the Super League proposal. This breakaway undermines the domestic leagues and the champions league, and will hurt the less wealthy clubs left behind. In the current system, teams can be relegated and European competition has to be earned. In this Super League, the founding members are permanent participants.

As much as FIFA/UEFA are corrupt and greedy, this move by these twelve clubs is also about power and greed.

Since, this is being formed outside of FIFA/UEFA and without the approval of them or the domestic FAs, all of this is going to lead to a really ugly fight.

People look at me weird when I point out that the reason sports went on so promptly during the pandemic is bet money.

They are not true fans, lol.

A true fan like me only wants to see more exciting games and does not care about mediocre clubs. But it is a little boring to see the same teams to play though where UCL is earned by performance.

I also like to see challenge to status quo and drama of course.

And then there are also the supporters of the ā€œmediocre clubsā€ that are being left behindā€¦
