The answer to question 4 is that there are 36 players in round 100.
This is just 1 off from my guess of 37, which I think is really pretty remarkable! The other guesses of 12 and 200 were quite far off.
I can also say that my answer to Q7 was correct: I will definitely not win this tournament now! Also, my answer to Q10 was wrong, Sofiam did not come up with something else the next year.
This tournament is now about 5% of the way through, counting by rounds, and it’s taken just about 2.75 years. At that pace it would finish in ~55 years total, but it seems it’s speeding up. I still think some critical point will hit when it speeds up a lot, maybe around when it gets down to ~10 players, if those 10 are all very active (seems likely that the most active will survive). But who knows, I could be way off.
The next question that seems like it might get a definitive answer (barring the tournament ending early) is either my guess at Q8 that the tournament will take “7 years 5 months 1 day 14 hours”, or LiuBang10’s guess that it will end prematurely after 250 rounds. At current rate, that point is projected to be reached after my time guess, but with the rate speeding up it could happen earlier. I might (or might not) be back in May 2030 to see who was right/wrong.
