2023: “Things change, and they don’t change back.”

So many tsunamis i observe everyday on my beach

We talked about leaded gasoline before in the 2021 thread.

Today, I came across this interesting video talking about its inventor

One thing that we did not mention in the previous discussion was that leaded gasoline is still allowed for piston-engine small aircraft. However, there are initiatives to phase that out:

“It is not enough for us to reference the science and then make agreements that ignore what the science is telling us we need to do,”

Maybe I am missing something, but isn’t this what they just did again? Was there actually a binding plan which they actually agreed to really implement, or was it an agreement “in principle” like this:

I think they want the political credit for appearing to do something positive, without the political burden for committing to do something positive

Ah, yes, the “creative inertia” … now that’s something that is not bound to change any time soon

(on another “funny” note on that)

Happy Solstice everyone!

So …

… we have 2024 in some parts of this planet already …

(turn the sound on!)

Folks, friends, foes (haha really? Me, foes? Never!),

I wish for you that 2024 may become your very best year, so far!

And now … is there a thread already for 2024?

Because … if I were to make one, it might become something like …

“2024: Godzilla, Aliens, or simply like ‘2012’?”

You wouldn’t want that, would you?

2024, and what?

Let me count the new ones
Let me see the ones on the verge to come in

So, do we have a thread already that’s fit as a continuation of this tradition?

(BTW, I can’t see how the title of this thread is “gloomy”—“You can’t stir the oatmilk back out of your coffee” isn’t gloomy, is it? )

You look so sure about this since last year. Did you have some scientific confirmation? Some proof! And what about in the future?

There seems to already be a 2024 thread started

I guess that’s a somewhat optimistic message, looking forward, but it does imply negativity about the ongoing situation.

I don’t think it’s necessary to continue the gloomy tradition.

Well, “you do you”, I’m not going to force yet another “gloomy” topic title unto y’all

BUT … I for one do NOT believe that realism plus a (IMHO healthy) sarcasm equal “gloomy” :man_shrugging:

Maybe it’s my age, and that I have experienced quite a few revolutions around the star already …
When someone asks me: “How are you?”, and it’s not one of my best days, I like to reply, usually with a smile, “Well, every day above ground is a good day!”
Would that also be “gloomy” for you folks?

Here’s a nice comic by the awesome Nathan W. Pyle:

Anyway, shall we then close this thread and choose that other one to be THE thread for 2024?

Sry, I experienced some weird Tachyon fluctuations and time dilatation
Corrected it.
