Team Japan has already lost 2 players?

Two are only partially visible on the picture:

So we have a 7 players Korean team?

No, only 2 of them came for this round of the matches since there are only 4 games in total.

Also Ichiriki and Shibano couldn’t come because they are playing each other today.

I can provide some background for the senior group event, it is called 농심 백산수배 세계바둑 시니어 최강전 (农心白山水杯世界围棋元老最强战 in Chinese, 農心白山水杯世界囲碁シニア最強戦 in Japanese) and held concurrently with the main group. It had been held since 2023, and this is only the 3rd time this year. The Korean team won the 1st one the year before last year, and the Chinese team won the 2nd one last year. And to “qualify” for the elderly group, players must be born before 1972 (> 53 years old)

The team members this year are

Chinese team :
Liu Xiaoguang 刘小光
Yu Bin 俞斌
Rui Naiwei 芮乃伟
Cao Dayuan 曹大元

Korean team :
Cho Hun-hyeon 조훈현
Yoo Chang-hyuk 유창혁
Kim Chong-su 김종수
Kim Yeong-hwan 김영환

Japanese team :
Kobayashi Koichi 小林光一
Yamashiro Hiroshi 山城宏
Yoda Norimoto 依田紀基
Nakano Hironari 中野寛也

So far, the Japanese team had won the first 2 rounds this year by Nakano Hironari, eliminating Cao Dayuan from the Chinese team, and Kim Yeong-hwan from the Korean team. Rui Naiwei is the next in line for the Chinese team to fight Nakano Hironari today.

That age limit (>53) is strange, age limits are generally ≥n where n is a multiple of 5.

That’s a great lineup for the senior event. Some big names in there. Thank you @Counting_Zenist and @Sadaharu for the information.

FYI in the previous season Rui Naiwei almost cleared all the players by herself until she lost by time in one game.

Yes i remember the game. It was between her and Takemiya Masaki. So sad. She was leading.
