A UI tweak to avoid misclick (correspondence)

I’m not sure if you’ve looked closely, but they are not only different colour, they are in a different position.

I’m about to update the pictures to show before and after. …

… done. See how the location of Back To Game and Pass is much lower than the location of Submit?

That’s because they are inside the Analyze Game pane, instead of on top of it as currently. If you wizz your mouse up to click the “normal” place for “back to game”, you will be pointing below “Your Move”.

ah yes, that would be very good.

just hope it wouldn’t be too much trouble for the web designer.

It happened to me too.

And also this one: click on “Back to game”, browser senses two clicks, popup appears “Are you sure you want to pass?”.
Luckily it needs confirmation. Otherwhise I would have passed much more times than needed!

Your tweak would avoid this one too.

I’ve implemented this, over to the Devs to decide to include it.

The screenshots of what I ended up with are here: https://github.com/online-go/online-go.com/pull/606

If you think it will be a problem for you, now would be a good time to say!

Can you show me a screenshot? It looks pretty well positioned for double-click-prevention on my screen:

34

Well, for some reason it mostly happens whenever that nickname is in the lower 1/3 of the screen.

Ahah - I see.

How do you get that particular list?

I don’t have a list that has a header showing the total number or users online.

I can reproduce your issue in a different list - its in the bottom left of my Profile:

53

(trohde’s name was right under the “report” button")

I think I probably need to know all the places that cause it to happen.

Mmh I just used chat. Made a quick video: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/243815503?t=51s

Ah right, I almost never use it, didn’t think of looking there

I don’t think you do. I asuume it happens every time there is not enough room for the box to appear below the cursor… Right?

Meaning you can reproduce it anywhere where a name to click is just by resizing the browser to be more narrow for example.

Or maybe I misunderstand the problem  (happens often)

I dunno yet - I’m not sure whether what controls the placement of that box is controlled by the page invoking it (in which case each one needs to be fixed) or the box itself.

… turns out you’re right: the link has the box attached to it, so only has to be fixed in one place.

I’ve submitted a change to fix this.

Up to the devs now to accept (or not!).

Happened to me few times also.
I’m for moving submit button closer to the left side and changing its color.

Also, we shouldn’t discard possibility that there may be a bug as it once was Wrong submitted stone bug

I play only correspondence and often use conditional moves. The pause button is just below the conditional moves button and is very easy to misclick, especially on iPad. How about an “are you sure you want to pause this game?” message (only for correspondence)?

On my Android:

On my PC:

Weird.

Where does the “Submit” button end up on your Android?

Also, what browser is that?

This is what it looks like simulating a phone under Chrome:

(doesn’t change layout for any aspect ratio I’ve tried).

And here it is on my own Android phone (also Chrome browser)

Yes, it’s Chrome for Android.

It seems I had a step forward and back again: I noticed the green buttons in the morning but few hours later they were blue again so I took the screenshot.

Now the analysis mode buttons on my phone are green again, but I have no moves to do, so I can’t check the submit button. I’ll check again later.

@GreenAsJade: now everything is fine. Blues and greens are in the right place.
