I’m trying to remain respectful and not racist, but in Twitter #filmyourhospital is trending. Americans video/photo hospitals that don’t seem busy enough to prove there is no pandemic and it’s all a hoax.
I just can’t.
Wow, that’s terrible. I didn’t realize that was a thing
Hospitals are being overwhelmed right now and there is already about a thousand dead in NYC. I just can’t fathom how people can be so brazen to deny something that is currently happening.
That is actually insane.
word “coronavirus” and masks are not allowed in Turkmenistan
there are officially 0 cases
“I have bad news, my friend has been diagnosed with that-which-shall-not-be-named.”
Oh no, I’m so sorry about that. Are they in the hospital or at home with a mild case?
Oh, that was just a joke about not being able to say “coronavirus” in Turkmenistan!
My friends are all fine for now, but thanks for your concern.
Sorry, a relative died yesterday (unrelated to covid) and I’m a bit jumpy.
Our condolences to you and your family.
Thank you.
Sorry to hear that, wishing you and your family all the best.
Thank you.
Yeah, the government wants to introduce one time QR codes as a permit to walk out. And they want to fine transgressors automatically (or almost automatically) based on mobile phone location and camera data. And that’s where I don’t really like it. Even without coronavirus there’re tons of cases where car fines are billed from wrong people. And now these big fines are gonna be assigned automatically? Moreover since the courts don’t work, it’s unclear how the appeal process would work. Not even mentioning that not all people have internet access and printer/modern phone to carry the QR code around. Plus, I’m not sure if they can actually make a system like that on such a short notice.
So I’m not liking it.
Are they in this for money? It’s not a secret that fines are a source of revenue…
Unfortunately, there are a significant number of crazy people in this country. For example, even after one of the most atrocious school shootings, various people put forth insane conspiracy theories. However, I think society generally does swiftly repudiate them, and such terrible attention-seeking people are probably best left ignored.
I think people using the #FilmYourHospital tag in an effort to downplay this crisis are only just labeling themselves as crazy and/or incredibly stupid (at best).
@Gia, I am so sorry for your loss.
But… Why?
What do they gain from this? I mean, although I’m against censorship, at least it’s usually understandable from a power perspective why certain things get censored. What’s the point of censoring a pandemic?
For a start, they can get away with it: a small minority of the population have access to the internet.
As for why, I refer you to the 1992 Clinton campaign’s winning slogan: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It’s_the_economy%2C_stupid
Like the economy has no problem with 2~3% of the population dying…
As long as natural gas production and export remains unscathed, sure.
What do they gain from this?
Of what I read, Belarus went a different way. They accept the existence of the virus, they have a few cases, but it is not just their problem and they will ride whatever wave comes their way.
And if the articles are to be believed, the league is actually decently good football.

That is what people said about other totally crazy things like the “PizzaGate”, but that doesn’t stop those people from having a following and being famous and having fans and revenue from their unfounded claims. One of those people has a youtube channel with 139 thousand subscribers and they have now moved on to peddling other propaganda to their gullible viewers, mostly about immigrants, the EU borders and “traditionalism”. Another similar channel that went inactive due to some scandals and which this one is trying to fill the gap for had 692 thousand subscribers (I am not mentioning any names because I do not want to advertise such channels at all) and since they make content about our borders I have sadly come across their videos and had a brush with how bananas their crowds are by reading the comments underneath.
So, thinking that such people are “fringe” is not really correct. There are a lot more unstable people than reasonable people tend to think there are, unfortunately.
