Are you worried about coronavirus?

Is there a polite way to call a whole nation stupid? (sorry to the few people that aren’t)

The people that are stupid are probably spending more time out and about then actually looking at these forums, although I wouldn’t actually know since I wouldn’t do that.

What the fuck…

Also, if you think it’s just one nation being retarded, take a look at the comments on this Canadian video.

The first sentence the anchor says is shameful. She is directly fueling conspiracy theories, and the CBC should be ashamed of themselves for this video.

I’ll just call our whole species stupid and be done with it.

You can bet the farm that if the anti-science crowd were suddenly deprived of the very technology they use to spread their misinformation, they’d be the first to yell bloody murder, that the government was shutting down the peoples’ voice etcetera. Apparently science is good when it serves their purposes but evil when it tells them something they would rather not hear. The irony/hypocrisy is beyond breathtaking.

I am not following this thread closely (because I am very worried) but I got surprised with these last posts. I am following the news from my own country (Brazil) closer and now I see that the feeling that the people and the government are not doing their part is also present in other places.

If you let me share our tragedy, today our president fired the health minister who was supporting social distance and doing a good job. Bolsonaro literaly appeared in an oficial tv transmission other day and urged people to go back to work (around 20-25% of our people follow him blindly)

I don’t know how long coronavirus will last but the freedoms we lose aren’t gonna be back in a long time. Now is the perfect time for governments to pass sketchy laws because no one can protest.

On a lighter note, went out into wastelands today and check it out, first pharmacy masks I got ahold of ever.

It seems something already happened in Hungary…

Can you elaborate on what that something is?

He has basically claimed dictatorship for as long as he deems necessary.

As far as I know, the EU has not been very proactive with responding to it, sadly…

This article is a longer read that also provides context on how the deep societal and economic problems in the USA are exacerbating the pandemic.

I guess, even from a politically conservative point of view, it would make sense now to have a unconditional basic income and universal healthcare for everybody in the US (at least as long as the pandemic lasts), so that workers can afford to stay at home and there is a chance to stop/delay the pandemic until there is a tested vaccine.

@KAOSkonfused I’ve added a timestamp to reply to your comment, but I recommend watching the whole thing anyway.

I don’t think it has to do with conservative / progressive view. Pretty much all of the rest of the developed world (and even most of the semi-developed world) has universal healthcare, and looks at the US with astonishment that they don’t…

@yebellz I think you should also get a custom pendant (timestamp’d)

As for many (many) other initiatives… the EU self-claimed a U in excess.
