Well, me neither, but I haven’t been there in 2013… 2015 must have been my first time, I think… So I went there only twice before it moved to the new place. (hint, hint @Vsotvep and everyone else 
)

Well, it looks like a building. However, judging by the fact that it has only two floors, it might be a university campus. This is further solidified by the fact that a) there is an extra building to the left (with a gap in between), and there is a sign to the right of the doors (but I can’t read it). However, there might only be two buildings, which would not make a campus, but this is unlikely, because of the good scenery / walkways. (You wouldn’t invest all that time and energy for just two buildings!)

So quiet in here… OK, I’ll give you a tip: It’s not a university campus. You are looking for a company that is doing research which makes their products quite expensive.
Hm… the vegetation looks to me (no expert) as if this was in a mild climate. In the window, you can see the reflection of overhead wires. I don’t recognize the signs at the entrance.

Looks like it’s close to the equator due to the lack of grass. Spain maybe?
Spain is about as close to the equator as New York is (not very close I’d say).

Nevertheless most of Spain has a climate more similar to Texas (due to the Gulf stream and the isolated Mediterranean sea)
I agree that this looks like an arid location.
The building with the colourful lights, it’s the location of some festival that has recently moved, but I’m not sure which festival… There are so many of them!
It looks like the picture is taken in winter, since people are wearing warm clothes.

It’s not exactly a festival, it’s a congress. A very special congress. 
It takes place in Germany at the end of each year.

Actually I found it, but I’m on my phone and can’t drop down into Google Maps properly. It apparently had not much to do with rocket science
The convention is the “Chaos Communication Congress”, a hacker convention.
Earlier I had already found the organisation behind the congress (the Chaos Computer Club), but not noticed that they organise a convention. The rocket threw me off as I was zoned in on something to do with rockets.

Desert? More like steppe, or rather tundra. I guess this is either somewhere around the arctics, like Canada or Patagonia, or in a mountainous area above the tree line.
Edit: On the building to the right, that’s an airship. Apparently, cargo-airships in northern Canada are a thing.

I think you’re right. And from the cars and the lamps with overhead wires, it all looks pretty North-American.
It looks like an industrial area to me, although the building on the left could be a research building or even a museum from the back (the surroundings are not pretty enough for a museum’s front, I think).
