There is a good hint in the picture.
You’re good at it!
Is it a google maps picture?
Nope, but you can find the location from this angle on Google maps. I didn’t take the Google maps picture, since it would not contain the hint that this one has.
It’s clear what country it is, but darned if I can see how to narrow it down from there!
So - I got high hopes thinking I narrowed it down to a rail bridge somewhere on Shikoku island, Japan.
However, darned if I can find a matching bridges…
You’re not far off, but it’s not Shikoku
Yeah I just expanded the logo and see it is probably JR West!
Smaller, the logo looked lighter blue!
On the right - that has to be Japan.
On the train: JR logo.
… and now that we look closely, maybe it is the dark blue of JR West.
… but 'cmon there’s miles and miles of gorges with bridges on Kyushu. What do we have to figure out which!?
I suppose there are not so many bridges with a railway platform on it. Next to the second traincar from the right there is a sign that tells the train is on platform 1.
Man, the whole island is non stop rail bridges and stations!
I found a map of all stations in JR-West:
Yeah, I found that too. I realise Kyushu is served by JR West, but is possibly not the right answer because it also has it’s own JR Kyushu.
But that doesn’t help much: have you counted the number of stations in there
“These lines together comprise 610 km of track, have 245 stations” … thats a lot of hunting without more of a clue
(edit ^^ Oh, that is only the urban network … then there are the regionals…)
@assai’s comment could be useful, but we aren’t gonna scan every one of these stations if they’re next to a tunnel, are we?
That’s an awesome number.
And to think that a long straight road in the outback was considered too hard
Unless there are more clues we’re missing I reckon “A Japanese rail bridge” is possibly the best answer we could hope for?
I had no idea
Ah! But it’s electrified! There are some lines that aren’t.
I looked at all (read: most) of the pictures of JR West railway stations on Wikipedia, and none of it fit the picture.
You lads are committed
Why don’t we run an easy and a hard stream of pictures at the same time? Then you can have a cool-down whilst you search for railway stations and Brazilian road signs.
Also, for some weird reason there is barely any streetview in Germany, I just noticed.
