Are there black and white circles symbols of same width?

(answer to previous version of post)
emoji is more like image than text

That’s not ASCII, nor anything like it, though.

Well, ┼ ░ █ are not ASCII either; everything is part of Unicode, which IS a lot like it and as a text format has a lot of advantages over an image. The box characters have a longer history, being part of the old code page 437, and they might be better supported by a random terminal. Some characters that you might want from that old charset are apparently ○◙:relaxed::slight_smile:, but I don’t remember these existing on old systems. Everything seems to be working fine in this random modern Ubuntu terminal, at least:

Unfortunately Discourse seems to have converted my emoji to some kind of images, let’s see if I can get it to use the actual characters: ➕⚪⚫😊😡🐶🐱

EDIT: Okay, it worked. I edited the previous post accordingly.

I didn’t know the name, but that (or something similar) was what I was thinking of with “similar to ASCII”.

I “hearted” OP because I think it’s funny and awesome, not because I want another option :joy:
