Have a nice game everybody! I’m excited for some weird and interesting tactics :slightly_smiling_face:

I heard tengen is a good first move on 9x9:

@Vsotvep, are okay with me playing on E3?

Yeah, go ahead

Okay, I’m playing E3

I’ve removed the opacity and given the stones their border. Also, reminder that linking works

Sorry, I would have posted the screenshot and link, but I was in a rush while using my phone.

FYI, @Here_We_Go, it’s your turn.

I guess we could also call this “Fractional Factional Go”. We could even add “Fictional” to that if we introduce a degree of roleplay.

Try to say “Fictional Fractional Factional” quickly and often. Because I can’t do it

Thank you Vsotvep, it’s much clearer like this :slightly_smiling_face:

I play E7.

Ok, I’m taking the liberty of posting the updated board state:

I don’t know if you prefer dark- or light-blue, so feel free to change it.

I have no idea for what’s good strategy at all… I need to preserve liberties of both White and Blue, and make sure the White / Red stones don’t lose their Red liberties because of my moves, right? So, basically, this is Pair Go with the extra rule that your own stones potentially also limit your liberties, unless you can connect to your opponents stones with the same colour.

Since this is a team game, it’s more important to see the board as a Black / White division, and the Blue / Red division will only be really relevant for capturing.

I’m not experienced at normal 9x9 games, but it seems C4 is a good move here, so I’ll play that, I guess?

It seems very important (and difficult) to avoid unintentionally reducing the liberties of your partners second coloured chain. I’m having a difficult time reading ahead in the close-combat fights, but I’m up for the challenge

Given that you took the left side, my feeling tells me to take the other side with G4:

I already think the order of moves might need some Thue-Morseing to make the game feel more fair. As long as no stones are captured, there’s always either the same number, 1 more or 2 more red stones than blue stones. Being both Blue and White, I feel outnumbered in two ways right now

What would be the four player (in teams of two) generalization of that?

You could keep the Black / White order alternating like currently, but switch back and forth between the Blue and Red. E.g.

Black|Red
White|Red
Black|Blue
White|Blue

Black|Blue
White|Blue
Black|Red
White|Red

and take these as your “A” and “B” in the TM sequence.

Actually, just playing with the order “Black|Red, White|Blue, Black|Blue, White|Red” already distributes the colours better, since there’s never a point where there’s 2 more of one colour than of the opposite colour.

What you’re saying is true, and now that you brought it up, this slightly different turn order / shared colour schema might have been better. I did ask people what schema they would prefer but nobody answered, and looking back, unfortunately the one I proposed might not be the best.

Though I will say that both teams have a player with the colour red, so in terms of balance I believe it should be okay. I understand your point though, being the player last in the playing order kind of sucks in this schema.

I didn’t realise back then that the difference would be significant :stuck_out_tongue:

But it’s fine, the more stones on the board the less this should matter, after all.
