Just realised Sumire is already ranked 4th among the Korean female pros!

The current ranking is:

  1. Choi Jeong
  2. Kim Eunji
  3. Oh Yujin
  4. Sumire
  5. Kim Chaeyeong

Sumire just rose to No. 4 after overtaking Kim Chaeyeong!

I believe her initial goal was to be in the Top 3, so just one more to go!

I heard from friends with Kagaribi project group about the upcoming Kagaribi cup, but haven’t heard anyone from the EGF side to promote it. It will be held from 2025-10-03T06:00:00Z→2025-10-03T12:00:00Z on OGS

Not sure this is “Go World News” worthy. But this is very rare to have East Asia pros (although Kansai kiin pros aren’t the strongest) and EGF pros in a group match.

Game Format: Fischer Time Control: 5 minutes + 15 seconds per move

Participating Players

Kansai Ki-in Representative Players:

  • Atsushi Sada, 7p
  • Yuto Omote, 3p
  • Takuya Okawa, 3p
  • Jin Nishimura, 2p
  • Fumi Takayamabe, 1p

European Representative Players:

  • Mateusz Surma 3p
  • Ali Jabarin 3p
  • Andrii Kravets 2p
  • Stanislaw Frejlak 2p
  • Benjamin DrĂ©an-GuĂ©naĂŻzia 1p

The most interesting match and probably the toughest one will be the round 4 2025-10-03T10:30:00Z - Andrii Kravets 2p :ukraine: vs Atsushi Sada 7p :japan: (who had been in Japanese Meijin and Honinbo title main league)

I’m guessing this news kinda fit this topic. As part of some intellectual sports event happening in Russia: Moscow Intelliad; Ilya Shikshin 4p played a handicap match against Dang Yifei 9p with a 2.5pts reverse komi.

The game went exactly as you would imagine but it is still very nice to see such match-up being organized between the strongest European player and a world-class player like Dang Yifei 9p (currently 4th in the world), he just won the Lanke Cup 2 weeks ago against Shin Jinseo.
