that’s what I hope for :)))

I like the ‘broad strokes’ summaries, feels useful for a borderline DDK/SDK like me. Coincidently, the book it recommended was the last book I read - guess I’ll reread it.
I got 96% midgame blunders!, or as I like to think of them: funky-fresh unorthodox moves.
Most blunders happen during midgame, it’s normal.
I like your naming convention lol
I also make a lot of midgame mistakes! As Jon_Ko pointed out, that is rather normal ![]()
Hey @Counting_Zenist I should have fixed the handicap games issue! However for the fix to be applied to a game, it needs to be re-analyzed (from now forward, the issue should be fixed, but previously analyzed games are not affected). So for previous games I can manually run them through the analysis to fix them, if you share with me the subject games/player username, I’d be happy to get that done for you ![]()
@square.defender I fixed the leaderboard and the fetching mechanism, now games with less than 25 moves are not considered, although it will only affect future queries. For the leaderboard, I simply disregarded the games that had less than 25 moves. Also I decided to go for the “average blunder severity“ as the comparison metric (the lower, the better), I think that might be a better way
thoughts?
Perhaps it would be better to judge the size of mistakes by point loss, instead of percentage loss.
Other remark: the following analysis is strange.
I will think about doing by point loss, though the importance of “how many points“ depends on the moment of the game (I mean a 3 points mistake isn’t that important in the opening, but would be perhaps important in the end game). The way I understand it, the percentage captures this nuance (a small mistake in the opening does not represent a huge shift in percentage loss, so it’s negligible). But perhaps I am missing something!
As for the analysis, this is an odd case that happens from time to time, basically katago thinks that you made the best available move, but also that the move is a blunder. It’s a little wordy to explain, but the point in those situations is that katago with the settings I use, could not come up with a better move even if it’s a mistake
Not sure why you deleted the post, you were making a valid point even if for a bit of an edge case :))
I am happy to revisit the leaderboard metrics anytime! Would be cool to see what other players think about it too hehe
If someone is dan, they can just try playing 10 games again and do 0 big blunders this time. So your metric makes sense. But points would be better than % because humans are able to estimate size of move in points and not able to estimate in %. Humans never think about % numbers when play.
Never do move that loses more than 10 points is clear goal for that new attempt.
Never do move that loses more than 50% is not clear goal for that new attempt.
That makes sense!
Implementing a points-system is on the todo list, though it is not trivial unfortunately for me lol
I understand your point, and this is more meant to show you what kind of mistakes you make, and how often, rather than be an analysis tool for a single game (since there are hundreds of those already lol)
So as for your example: the tool would tell you more something like “think carefully when you are in a fight on the side during the midgame, since that’s when you tend to blunder a lot“
Adding points is on the roadmap ![]()
Quite a bit of my games are handicapped, cannot there be a reanalysis all button, or just clear the cache of all of my games so they can all be reanalyzed?
I took the liberty to do that for you, the games for your username should be re-analyzed. Kindly let me know if the bug is gone when you get a chance to see the new results ![]()
I think handicap stones are “considered” in the analysis now (no longer recommended on their locations), but they are still not showing on the board states visually
(D4 Q16 black should be there, just not showing)
Right of course! Silly me, I fixed the analysis but forgot to fix the UI ![]()
Thankfully it was a quick fix, now it should finally work as intended :))
If someone never wins and always behind from the beginning, all their moves will lose very little % because they already lost all their chances to win the game. They may get high place in leaderboard.
Noted! I fixed this, now the percentage is weighted, meaning that heavy swings count more than light ones, so if someone is already losing badly, their mistakes will count less since they had little chance of winning anyway.
dokbohm is even higher now, lol

and shamisen is even lower
