@HHG said that the person was born in Great Britain, rather than the more specific England. This means he could be Scottish or Welsh. But I don’t know any Scottish or Welsh academics off the top of my head.
I was just about to post those too.
On the other hand, if the person was on one of those lists, then @HHG would have answered more certainly than “I think so” to the academia question.
