@simontemp: I also believe that the “hover menu” is causing confusion.
This is the “hover menu”:
Unfortunately all the games you linked ended without counting, except for this one.
In this case you can see that the final score under japanese rules is simply: territory + captures + komi (only for white).
So NO handicap points are computed in final score. Whatever the “hover menu” says.
In this case:
- Black has 25 points of territory (no captured stones)
- White has 19 territory + 3 captured stones + 3.5 komi = 25.5
White wins by 0.5 points.
As you can see in the “info box” (menu “Game informations”):
Handicap = 2 (or more) means that the game starts with 2 (or more) black stones already placed on the board and white moves first.
Handicap = 1 would make no sense (it would be like forcing black to make the first move in a certain position, that is no help!) so in this case the komi is reduced and black moves first. Here komi is 3.5 instead of 5.5.
So actually the handicap is “2 less point for white”.
Forget about the hover menu.
