It’s always been a common knowledge that go players get all the girls.

On the left and on the second photo is Tsuruyama Atsushi. For me most known for his efforts in creating go entertainment.

On the right it’s Tonari Ryuma, I’m sure we all looked at his games at one point or another.

And the girls are AKB48 members, and at this point my expertise is over. Here is one of them.

How many players can you recognize?

I guess I can see Takao Shinji. Shibano Toramaru and Kono Rin is easy. Rin Kanketsu stands out. Those two would be Xie Yimin and Ueno Asami and then logically that should be Ueno Risa. So 7 if it’s even right? /Edit: looks like two are wrong there.

Just for the record, whenever you link to twitter, it looks like this on my screen:

I don’t speak Japanese and I’m too wary of twitter to dare click any link to it, so there is not a lot of information that make it through.

All the images and things show up fine for me - do you have something blocking Twitter specifically? Or does it do it on other websites (like news websites often embed tweets)?

I have an ad-blocker, but it normally silently blocks what it blocks. It doesn’t display “broken pictures” like this. I always assumed it was Discourse that blocked the images from twitter.

If you live in some god forsaken country that blocks twitter it might also show up like that. In fact this is exactly what I see if I don’t use VPN.

I live in France. Not a lot of things are blocked.

Although this summer, the justice had to give judgement on two matters related to blocking websites.

The first matter was book publishers versus z library, the website for free ebooks. French justice concluded that literature should never be free, so now z library is blocked by all Internet access providers.

The second matter was childhood protection associations versus porn sites. Internet access providers even came forward and said they were in favour of the block and had already prepared everything and were ready to block porn sites as soon as the judgement was rendered. But the French justice did a 180 and declared that “although they agreed on principle that porn shouldn’t be this easily accessible by children, blocking porn sites would be too much of a burden for Internet access providers”.

I don’t even know what to think. Maybe they were bribes? Or maybe judges are big consumers of porn?

Free literature!! Quelle horreur!! Think of the children!!

Easy: money in or money out.

Free books + relevant sectors = money out (or so they think, I beg to differ)
Accessible porn + relevant sectors = money in

Who cares about safety and justice?

Does that refer only to literature under copyright, or to all literature (even public domain works)? In the U.S., copyright holders often allow the Library of Congress to record books to produce audiobooks that are distributed strictly to people who are blind. Is this allowed? What about a copyright holder who waves all rights, as Cory Doctorow did when he put his first novel online for free in order to promote himself? His book was very popular, and he soon had a publishing contract.

I doubt the justice system would have the power to “forbid” free literature altogether. In this case the decision only regarded the website z library (which provided both literature under copyright, and public domain literature).

I wouldn’t have been very surprised by the decision, if it hadn’t been rendered simultaneously with the decision to not do anything against uncontrolled access to porn. Especially since the arguments they gave to justify the inaction in the first case and the arguments they used to justify the action in the second case would all have applied equally to the other case.

So it’s pretty clear that the given arguments are irrelevant, and the only thing that matter is that we do want to support access to porn and we do want to hinder access to literature. I think @Cchristina 's analysis is right on point.

Another funny picture with flowers.

Kishi to kishi. Players (kishi) and knights (kishi). Jisho also gives 10 more different words for kishi. Who the hell could come up with this language.

Adorable. Shibano Toramaru holding Ueno Asami’s hammer (with an apple) and Ueno Asami doing the tora part of Toramaru.
