how can you search for a name on ogs and invite him/her to a game ?

You need to click the ogs menu that had a search bar at the top one opened. Search the name and then you can click it and choose “challenge”

How intuitive is OGS for new users?

I have heard people say this is difficult. I also vaguely remember not knowing how to search for a user when I started playing on OGS. I have also heard a couple of (possibly older) people say they find OGS a bit complicated. I have just helped someone with this. I think it’s not at all obvious how to get a game on ogs or more particularly how to get a game you want with the opponent you want set up how you want. How do I find/challenge/add my friend?

First you have to find him/her. You can search for people by clicking the upper left OGS logo and then typing into the search bar. Once you see his/her name click on it, a box will pop up. From here you can do many different actions such as challenging, sending friend request, or reporting. If you click on challenge the settings window that you know from random matches will appear.
