Let’s make sure we’re talking about the same question. This is the board position at move 47. In the same manner as you solved the previous problem, count the points that white has surrounded.
well is see 41 points for me is this wrong as ususal???
by the way to the others here, i have upped my game a little, moved my goal to 110 moves before losing 12 stones on a 13x 13 board game so some very minor improvement i think
Can you post a picture showing where you found 41 points? Otherwise we can’t determine what you misunderstood.
41 is indeed wrong. But 37 was right before. So we would all be interested to know how you got those 2 numbers.
well i thought that since 37 was wrong before as you said– then there must be more points so i included g6 stone g7 stone h8 stone as they were free and clear of any black stones — that was my thinking anyways, so i guess that was wrong as usual it seems
I told you that 37 was correct.
Only count empty space. Do not count stones. Please try again with the problem from move 47 above.
would 32 points be the answer i got confused with what part for the game i was counting and iam never very good with computors so everything using this cpu is confusing to me i hope that is right
Yes, 32 is correct, well done!
So given you had 37 points at move 37,and 32 points at move 47, and your opponent was just passing in between, do you think your moves then were good or bad, and why?
my moves were completely defense moves trying to get to my goal of 100 moves before he took 12 stones i really don’t know if they were good or bad but i did know that i stopped him a couple of times form getting me boxed in which was my secondary goal which i saw about move 20 or so
yesterday and today iam finding my new goals of 110 moves in a 13x13 and 55 moves in a 9x9 game getting to those goals before i lose 12 and 6 stones respectivly is much harder than i thought and my win rate in my goals has gone way done – but i must keep going,at these new rates, maybe abreak through will happen in the next couple of days — at least i hope it will
Here’s one of the games where you declared a personal victory by not losing 12 stones.
You have 33 stones on the board that are dead. Your opponent hasn’t bothered to capture them, because he doesn’t have to. Add to that another 6 stones (the ones marked with triangles) that are alive or dead depending on which player notices the situation first.
I don’t think you’re learning anything with these new rules you’ve invented. You certainly aren’t learning how to play go.
Whatever this new game is you’re playing, are you enjoying it? You seem less enraged than before, so maybe it’s working.
Exactly.
I like the way of his opponent pointing it out.
And the deadpan advice at the end… ![]()

There was a point in time when @dokbohm already managed to finish some of his games by scoring them - getting the feedback what’s dead and what’s alive. Unfortunately, understanding life and death is hard and he has taken several steps back in his progress from there.
“Never look for your work in one place, then, and your progress in another.”
i guess in “bray” eyes iam just a useless waste of a time player not worthy to play this game you seem bent on pushing the negative towards, because i won’t learn your way ot at least the way you want me to learn, i just have to accept that haters just hate and will show all your faults and never maybe just once say that i have an ablilty to stick with this game
Then why come here and keep asking for advice?
It’s clear to everyone you don’t want to learn the way they are suggesting because you keep coming here asking for help, people keep giving you the help, and then you just keep doing your own thing. Couldn’t you just cut out the middle man by not asking for advice and then jump straight to doing your own thing?
I don’t understand why your are upset. What do you want to happen? People tender their advice, you don’t follow it, or you do so briefly only to return to previous behaviours, and then you expect progress? A pat on the back? You’re frustrated because you think people are being rude. People are frustrated because so many people have invested so much time and effort into you and you just ignore it and do your own thing, then complain that people are being rude and sometimes even complain that people don’t help.
There had been suggestions for implimenting the most “ancient” form of Go with stone scoring (regardless of life and death, any stone left on the board counts toward the scores, and any game can be scored even if you stop halfway).
Although OGS has not implemented it yet, but you can try here with some very basic AIs
you are right i should not ask for advice really i don’t anymore i just answer questions put to me
understand iam not really mad just frustrated that some here not all by a long shot have helped me, but its the negitive people whom get me down and sometimes the meds take over and i lash out iam sorry after, of course, when i do that, wish i could erase alot of my posts that would solve alot of things but you can’t so it is what it is. so thanks to those that help and to those that seem to pile it on – hey. i think i getting better than a few months ago not alot liek some expect but before i could’t even get to 50 moves on a 13 x13 board before getting hammered losing over 12 stone and sometimes way more so i keep plugging and asking and answering those that ask me question when i understnd them – see you on tha tables
Since I proposed you capture go, I stayed away from more help.
I understand you may have difficulties so I 'm back with my proposal.
Play to capture stones (and avoid to be captured)
. Simple. Don’t create some rulesets which will not help you to get more near the go rules.
Just try to capture more stones as your opponent captures
Happy gaming !
yes the rules i place on myself are there so i stick with. Just defend and get others’ stones till i reach my preset goal, and i have totally forgotten about territory for now, keeps me focused
unfortunate thing is, right now with 110 moves for 13x13 and 55 moves fr 9x9 set as my. get to goals in each game i seem to be losing a great deal of those games not getting to the goals at all sometimes missing by just a couple of moves but still missing the set goals especially 9x9 but i have to concertrate more on not getting pushed to the out side and not going to the second rung to play and i have to learn to just give up more on lost stones instead of trying to save them but i will keep going watchinga couple vidoes right now about such defensive move
