Is there no way to claim #1,000,000 for the official OGS account?
eg. by using a bot to take a hundred or so accounts around it?

much cooler avatar/profile pic
Iāll spoil that #999999 and #1000000 are the same person, but Iāll leave it up to them to reveal their identity, if they wish.
Hmm they hid their identity pretty well, there was no trace at all on gotstats to identify who they are

Felt it would be a waste if this cool id end up abandoned like its predecessors, so claimed it for someone who does play regularly.
Hey it took me almost a month of tracking
Iām just glad it found a good home!
I admit Iāve have preferred if it had been left up to luck. Maybe the random person would have turned out a legend, maybe not; that would have been cool to watch.
The regular player who got it will now have to maintain two accounts, so probably will abandon one of them down the line, so Iām not sure thatās betterā¦
Checking some surrounding user IDs
It looks like there may have been at least two distinct (and likely automated) efforts to grab user ID 1,000,000. The successful attempt used the pattern āogscheckin53ā, while another seemingly parallel (and failed) effort was creating accounts with the pattern āogsgoaccount49ā. The naming of the account ā10e6-2ā suggests that there may have been a third person attempting to grab the millionth user ID.
10e6-2 started as 10e6, but was renamedā¦ so sadā¦ I suspect that is one of the moderators, though, the automated accounts went to work around 125 before 1ā000ā000, and then got there in the span of 5 minutes.
Hehe why are we going all āsherlockā about this now xD
But yay gratz for OGS for reaching 1 million registered users!
Thats a good milestone regardless who got the nice id or how many unique humans there were behind all those accounts. Itās been fun seeing the site grow into what it is today ^^
Hereās a rare glimpse into the moderator centerās list of new users just before we hit 1000000.
As you can see, the bot was really busy around then.
Uhm, Iāll have to disagree, this is actually very important.
āOMG using AI is the devil, kill it with fire, annul everything that upsets the Order, nuke the thingā
-Normal person hoping that maybe they will get the legendary 1000000 ID url in that new site they want to register, by waiting patiently a couple of days, registering at the last moment, hoping for the best :honest and sad:
-Mod using automated accounts to catch the number :deal with it peasants:
What does the Shadowban button do?
Chatban.
I donāt think itās much of a milestone where thereās a bunch of bots/scripts just generating dud accounts.
Nononono, the 10e6 account is a single attempt at almost perfectly the right timing (mustāve been within 6 seconds of the actual creation of #10e6). The bots arenāt an attempt by a mod (or it must be an incredibly sneaky mod)
