Ashes of Love Episode 11 (available on Netflix)
In the last ten minutes of the episode there is a scene of Jinmi playing Go with Run Yu, the God of the Night. She plays two consecutive empty triangles and then declares that she has won.
sounds like a standard win condition to me
Oh, seems I’ve actually won more games than I thought!
Just found this.
It definitely looks like a Go game, though both players seems to just slightly move the stones, and no placing them. Maybe they just aligned then, not moved as part of game, or maybe the actors placed in front of that weird game did not had a clue how it is played, and just mimed it as best s they imagine that is played.
The two men are placing stones, it just often happens off camera or in low quality
“Dear dad”???
@koolbreeze That board is absolutely beautiful. I’m getting some ideas for another build…

Here’s a wall of pictures for you folks:
Rough Cut
In episode 11 of An Oriental Odyssey (chinese drama).
Unfortunately, there aren’t any nicer shots to share.
Yes!!
The Story of Yanxi Palace ( 延禧攻略 ) has a ton of scenes where the characters are playing go. I came across an article a while back criticizing this particular shot:
Article contains more stills of Go scenes.
As mentioned in the article, it almost looks like the stones were just randomly scattered on the board and some aren’t even on the intersections. It’s disappointing because otherwise it’s an excellent show.
I highly recommend it if you have any interest in Chinese drama series. Can be found on YouTube with English subtitles
Always loved the detail in Heathers of Veronica (Winona Ryder) having a Go board in her room (can see it in the background here).
