Rest In Peace, Richard Bozulich!
Today, a sad news arrived: Richard Bozulich passed away on March 09, 2026.
Just an hour ago, his grand-daughter posted this in the largest English-speaking Go group on Facebook.
Richard’s name is well-known in the anglophone Go community as he has written many books about Go, and the “K” in “KGS” comes from his “Kiseido publishing Company”.

Richard Bozulich (January 21, 1936 – March 9, 2026) was an American author, publisher of Go books in English and college math instructor. He co-founded the Ishi Press and was the founding publisher of Kiseido Publishing Co. He has worked with several Japanese professional players.
He had a regular go column in The Daily Yomiuri, which at that time was Japan's largest English-language newspaper.

My he rest in peace. It is hard to quantify how much he has done all these decades for popularising Go in English and he will be certainly missed.
It seems that he had a peaceful end, so that is, at least, a final blessing in someone’s life.

The book that really taught me the game was co-authored by Bozulich. His contribution to the English-speaking Go community was seriously immense

Think: go world, ishi press, kiseido… All these are historical monuments for the birth of the go community around the world and furthermore.
