Re: Correspondence games lost by disconnection

@anoek - I want to thank you again for all your work on the OGS website. Due to the facts that: “1) I enjoy using this website even more than KGS and DGS and 2) I like how you run it in a fairly transparent manner” - I’m going to look into how I can become an OGS site supporter… I’ll PM you if I have any questions or concerns about that.

p.s. I also like how this text editing box works with the “this is how it will look” box to the right. :slight_smile:

@Sighris,
it’s easy: click the “burger” on the top left of the game server page, close to the bottom of that menu you will find “Support OGS” (or just click the link I just provided).
Nice of you to support :slight_smile: thx :pray:

Your kind words and easy forgiveness are appreciated @topazg, original founder of OGS :smiley: Well so far I’ve royally messed up twice, I think I might need to revisit some things. I have heard no horror stories of you nor dmg wrecking thousands of games at once in one fell swoop :sweat_smile:

Well, they’re original corr server admins… you’re just a live server admin who merged in corr server functionality… so it makes sense that you’ll goof occasionally :wink: (jks)

Oh wow we had royalty visitors and nobody told us. I’m underdressed.

IIRC, nova.gs, @anoek’s and @matburt’s precursor site of the new OGS also had both live and corr. games.

Yep, we’re correspondence players pretty much exclusively, we just wanted to be able to fall back to “live” play if we happened to both be on at the same time, just kinda leave the tab open in the back ground kind of thing. Live is just a natural extension of that.

I was under the impression that prior to the merge OGS was corr only and nova was live only… but I will defer to your far greater experience with the history here

Nope nova.gs was pretty much as it was now in terms of capability, perhaps even more focused on corr. games though since live games were hard to arrange with a player base of a few hundred users.

I won six games and lost zero games , maybe the person who loses is the person with the least time in the game because I usually have more time then my opponent

Just a heads up, a have a couple tournament games not on weekend mode, if it’s not just me some people might time out.

The way the bug manifested is that the person who connected to the game first will have lost by disconnect, so basically everyone that logged on at ~6am my time lost a bunch of games.

Seems to work now—can place move. Good job! Thanks!

Yeah it happened around the time bugs started happening. However I am also wondering if it is just a glitch in my computer, but I also don’t understand how that would work. Honestly I think it may be something to do with the site because it just continues to randomly say “game started” every time I log in.

No clue what time is your time, but how close was it to the 10 hrs ago start of this thread. I went on about 7hrs before the start, but then I didn’t go on to the site until about an hour and 15 minutes after the start of this thread. I still lost a bunch of games before I got on this morning which ended about 30-45 minutes before I got on. Was this impacted by going on right before I went to bed then?

I started the thread pretty soon after the bug manifested and I realized something was very wrong.

Well then all of my losses were from before I woke up this morning. Maybe that was impacted by me coming on later at night. There is a slightly longer than 30 minute spread between my first win and my last loss.

you and xhu98 are go buddys? I thought we were becuase we played two games!

@Sports_for_Life @Sighris no worries, not a concern to me :smiley:

@anoek best of luck! :heart:
