The result is the disconnection code saw these games and counted them as being live games instead of correspondence games
Just in case there’s something else wrong, I lost by disconnection some games where it wasn’t my turn to play (where I wouldn’t expect it to make a difference whether it was a live game or not). Good luck with the problem.
Disconnection timeout happens when a player leaves the (live) game (I believe for more than 5 minutes). Even if it’s not their turn, this can lead to them losing, even if they wouldn’t yet time out. It’s a measure against people who leave their game instead of resigning.
I lost 2 ladder games and won one, all of which I was ahead. But that doesn’t matter. OGS is the best server there is. Thank you for giving it to us for all this time.
That bug annoys you at least as much as the regular users, probably a lot more since you’re the ones who are mitigating the consequences and dealing with the issue at its core. The least we can do is respect that (and you)
One annulls a game by going to the game and hitting the “call moderator” button. You can then list a reason about why you are calling the moderator or that you would like the game annulled.
This makes it so the finished game does not count towards a rank. This could be needed for different reasons such as an incorrect score, or a site glitch like right now. Otherwise the game or games could screw up someone’s rank to make their rank incorrect impacting other games and tournaments with rank based pairings.
For the record, I plan on doing mass rank correction, which will involve annulling these games automatically. So while it doesn’t hurt to do it manually, it’s not necessary to have them manually annulled by a moderator, it’ll be taken care of later this week (I’m going to make sure things are stable, then work on the rank correction, make sure I don’t mess anything up there, and then release that, so it’ll be a few days still). In the mean time, any games you play will be counted correctly during the rank correction too, so basically - just ignore your rank, play and have fun, and we’ll get things sorted out
Well, yes and no - I think I’m going to take this opportunity to add support for un-anulling a game as well, but after the release you’ll have to get a mod to click that button to un-anull. (note: I’m not guaranteeing this feature will make it in, but it’s something that’s come up before and no time like the present to try and get that in)
Likely not, stand alone that’s not hard - the problem is the expectation of it doing the right thing in a tournament or ladder… which again, in some cases is easy, in others, is not possible, so the short answer is “nope”.
Awesome / healthy attitude IMO! There are many big IRL problems out there IRL, we should not bee too attached to a rank on a Go Server which can be regained by playing more games… and we should be grateful to the people who developed the Go Servers so that we can all meet online and play games together. Thanks @anoek and @BHydden and the OGS team… Sorry to my Dan-level FB/Go-buddy @xhu98 for getting two UNfair technical losses to 23-25kyu “Sports_for_Life” - I’m sure in the long run all of our ranks will get back to normal… Unless a super-huge asteroid slams into Earth or something like that. :-/
