“Sente - Online GO” App for Android

@MrAlex I’ve started a new ladder game and it’s 5 moves in but it’s not showing up in the app. I love your app and use it all the time so I hope this can be fixed easily!

I’m having the same problem since a few days, new games doesnt show up and I’m keep receiving a notification for a challange which I declined already. Tried logging in and out but didn’t help. I removed the app cache and storage and tried again but didn’t help. Only 2 of my games showing up although I have 5…

That’s interesting because for me it’s just one game and it’s still not showing but since then another have started (new tournament round) and that just appeared as normal.

Damn, I can’t debug it if I can’t reproduce the problem :frowning: Can you think of something that might be causing this weird behaviour? Maybe one of the games has weird settings? The fact that the game is started via the ladder is definitely not it since I have played several of these games myself without any issues…

Might it be to do with it being my third ladder challenge? It’s the first time I’ve initiated three challenges and had them all still playing at once. Now I can’t issue any more challenges, is my third game flagged in some way to ensure this?

I create my games in the same settings always. Might it be that I sometimes play moves in the browser and sometimes in the app? :frowning:

It first happened when I sent a challange to someone… Haywire afterwards…

I have exactly the same problem. The app shows only 6 of my games (I have 9 in total). And when I use the auto-match in the app, the match is found, but the game still do not appear.
Only the recently started games do not show up. All the old games are still visible.
First time I observed the problem on 2019-06-09.
I tried to clean the cache and reinstall the app, but nothing has changed.
My first guess would be that there is something wrong (something has changed) on the way how the app fetch the list of games. Did OSG API has changed recently? Are the timestamps important somehow?

That is actually a possibility… Not sure who could answer that though… maybe @matburt?

Edit: Oh, wait I can reproduce this now, let me see what’s going on…
Edit2: the change in the API is in the ranking system… that ranking system is going to be the death of me for sure…

New version, alpha_b191 will be available in the next few minutes. Main fix is the one discussed above.

Now it works again. Thanks.

Thanks for the fix mate

New version is out. This one tries to address a problem I’ve been chasing for more than 6 months in which some people are receiving 403 errors while still being able to use the app (to some extent). I still haven’t figured out what causes it, but I am now confident enough that asking these guys and gals to log back in would fix it for them.

Please let me know if you are repeatedly and unexpectadly logged out though…

Just noting that recently OGS moved to disable score estimation when analysis is disabled - this is something that needs to be client side to comply.

I’ve been using the App more recently, mostly because I’m keen to have notifications.

However one thing that seems to be a problem is that the App doesn’t take away the notification when I’ve played the move on the web.

So I’m ending up with my phone telling me I have a move when in fact I played that move already.

Hello!
I’m new to the game and the Android app, but I am really liking the interface. One thing that I noticed was that it was draining my battery very quickly. I am on Pixel 2 XL running Android 10. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Can you please provide more info? Is it eating battery while in the background or when you are using it? One thing that does eat up a lot of battery is the estimate score stuff. It’s very battery intensive as it uses a lot of CPU, I’m afraid there’s no way around that other than using it sparringly.

mmm… I’m not 100% sure that is a good move for beginners, but fine, I’ll put it in the next version.

@MrAlex Hi, I just discovered you were the author of the app I’ve been using and loooving for six month now. I always thought it was made by OGS. Thanks a lot for your work !

Btw is there any development to expect this year for the app ? A conditional move and a retake move button would be very helpful. (and a night mode, like on OGS ?) Also I hope that one day we will be able to look at our own profile and stats on the app !

But I guess all that takes a few words to say and a lot of work to achieve ^^"
Whatever thanks again for your work and good luck for what comes next !

New version out soon (I know, long time, no see). Main features:

  • ability to challenge recent opponents (not from the end-game screen yet)
  • ability to search for a player by username and challenge them
  • new bot opponent selection screen
  • score estimator is disabled when analysis is disabled (as per @Eugene 's suggestion)
  • random bugfixes

FYI I enabled the Sponsor button on the github repo ( https://github.com/acristescu/OnlineGo ) in case people want to support development of the app. I hope nobody is upset with that move, I doubt it will ever amount to anything significant.
