The Dining Hall - NSFH(ungry people)

Here is what we had for dinner at my house a few nights ago. I didn’t post it at first because I didn’t make it, but @polar-bear gave me the confidence to post this.

I don’t think this is in the spirit of this thread, though, which I had mainly meant to be about cooking, not necessarily about eating.

Siomai anyone? Took me long just to make the wrapper

I’ve been wanting to make those for a while now, but never found the right moment yet…

I LOVE those (I’ve been know to order a separate serving for myself), but I don’t think I’m bold enough to try my hand.

Chicken siomai…been planning for beef but sadly I haven’t gone out shopping yet. The only meat I have left is chicken so I thought I am going to make one

this isn’t my first time doing it, there are too many trials and errors too in my expense. It’s like they said practice makes perfect. It’s not perfect for me yet if it took me long just to make its wrapper :joy: Once you’ve done it you got satisfied by the result of your hard work by hand.

So I presume the above picture is not your own? Since they look definitely perfect!

Steelhead trout with chunky sea salt and herbs of provence (or “salty lavender fish” as my wife affectionately put it). Garlicky roasted potatoes also featured.

Cooking on foil helps with clean up.

I actually cooked something this time
I made some chocolate chocolate chip cookies. I was sort of following a recipe, so I hope that I can still post this(well I didn’t have enough cocoa powder so I was using chocolate syrup in it too).
Here is the bowl about halfway through cooking them:

Here is a picture of most of the cookies that I made:

@trohde, you can have these virtual cookies :upside_down_face:

Just ate dinner. No photos, so I’ll have to paint a picture with my words. Before the virus, a colleague at work gave me a box of ginger curry and vegetables in nine pouches. Her husband didn’t like it, and she didn’t want it to go to waste. The vegetables are indeed vile, consisting almost entirely of baby corn and potatoes. I always fish out all the vegetables and heat the curry sauce. Tonight I poured this over a bed of brown rice, minced chicken, half a green pepper, and a whole tomato. I wasn’t sure whether tomato would go with curry, as I can’t remember ever eating that combination, but I had to use up the tomato before it went bad. Turned out great. The tomato moderates the curry some and adds a refreshing quality to the combo. Topped off with some pineapple-orange juice for my fruit/desert. Delicious.
