I’m not sure if I agree with kibitzers actively trying to influence the game with their comments, as has been mentioned earlier as well by @martin3141:

I think it’s within the nature of open kibitz that spectators can openly criticize our play.

Yeah … this is why I wrote Kibitzers can comment but are asked not to disturb the game in the simultaneous fractional go game. I appreciate the occasional kibitzer post for fun, but not a fan of observers starting a discussion, especially in a diplomatic style game.

More specifically I believe that trying to figure out other peoples playstyle and intentions is very much part of the game. A part that should be influenced as little as possible by outside factors.

I agree with this, it would be nice is spectators wouldn’t join the discussions about the game itself.

Note that the thing that finally prompted me to comment is that I re-read the first post and it said:

Don’t worry about it. As far as I’m concerned comments are fine as long as nobody feels offended / angered or disadvantaged by the post.

Yes, I think your comment was still fine, since I’d indeed respond with A3 to a green A5.

It’s rather the purpose of “adding oil to the fire” seems counter to the purpose of kibitzing.
