It seems that we should, could you give some advice on how to cooperate? The difference in colors means it’s a little hard to cut other chains.
I feel like while I have an advantage in the sense that I’m aiming to have just one group, I’m also waltzing through no mans land and with end up with little territory.
I think if yellow and pink decide to fight with me then it’s more like:
Realistically I think I would prefer to be green or blue - strong looking shapes and ideas for territory.
So G11 for now:
Golden plays M7:
Next is @NeilAgg .
To the esteemed leader of the Pink empire @Maharani :
It seems that we’ve still got a chance to stop the Blue empire before it’s too late. Consider the following sequence:
We’ll both gain a point, whereas one of the strongest empires on the board is eliminated. It’s a benefit for both of us. If Blue doesn’t play N7 it’ll be a different matter.
Please reply if Pink agrees or not.
Green @martin3141:
Red is trying to ally with Yellow and Pink to conspire against us.
Yellow @CharlieVinnie has also stated a plan to work with Pink against my nation.
It may be wise for your nation and mine to work together to fend off the others.
What say you?
Pink @Maharani :
We need to unite. Golden promises that your connection between stones J10 and M10 will stay intact. We’re both behind, so we have no time to worry about future conflicts between us.
My advice is to aim at the stone at N8.
Just to let everyone know, I will be out of town this Friday to Sunday. There is no need to hold the game for me, I will catch up when I can.
Dear Yellow (@CharlieVinnie),
With M7 you have found a sound plan yourself
Green supports you in this endeavor.
Dear Pink (@Maharani),
do you want to establish an agreement with Green about sharing the territory near the upper-right corner?
If so, then Green will focus on growing our mutual territory elsewhere. I’m thinking of playing H4, for example.
However, Green views the safety of the M10 stone as a requirement for such an agreement. In other words, the upper right corner needs to be defended from other colours such as Blue (@NeilAgg). Green would thus suggest Pink to play N9 or around there. This would also help out Yellow, I believe. How about it?
Blue,
Sorry but Greens answer is no
If you are allowed to connect Blues only potential weakness - the N8 stone - then you will have a superb position. Green can’t support Blue getting too powerful.
So what is your move?
If possible, Green wants to hear from Pink (@Maharani) before making a move.
Sounds good to me.
N9 seems more aggressive than necessary. Blue could still easily harass my M4 group in retaliation if they wanted to. I think pink N11 would be sufficient in making my M10 stone stronger, while not being an attack on either you or blue.
Green does believe that some degree of agression towards Blue (@NeilAgg) is necessary at this point. They control two corners already. Don’t you want to support Yellow (@CharlieVinnie)?
Normally Green would not mind you playing N11. But I believe that Blue is threatening to become too powerful if we allow them to connect their N8 stone to the lower right.
Sadly I see no way to help Yellow myself without invading pink space. But you can.
Green believes that, if we let this fleeting opportunity go by, then it is likely too late to stop Blue.
You have convinced me. I will play N9.
Green plays H4
The Azure Nation cannot possibly defend itself against a coordinated attack from three fronts so it looks like we will be defeated soon.
This leads me to a rules question:
Are points awarded for capturing dead groups left on the board by a previously defeated player?
I think the answer should be no.
Edit:
Another question:
If a player commits suicide, do the surrounding players get a point?
I also think the answer should be no in this case too.
I agree with both.
out of character:
I think we should clarify any rules ambiguity before proceeding.
As I understand it, the rules as written in the first post don’t explicitly state whether suicide is allowed or not.
Regarding the first question …
… going by the rules as written …
… I would argue that this happens even if the captured stones player was previously eliminated. But in general I agree with you, and think that this scenario is somewhat unintuitive.
Suicide should definitely be allowed IMO. ![]()
