One option is to wait for them to time out other game.
Another option is to wait for the game to become the slowest in the tournament.
I prefer “if he dies, he dies” attitude, but that’s just me.
I crawled through the games.

Hijacking this thread for on-topic discussions? How dare you???
While it’s nice of you to worry about that players absence, tbh I wouldn’t bother. The likelihood that that person really has a personal emergency, will come back in a while and be delighted seeing the paused game is low. The likelihood that you will convince all others in the group to pause their games is also low. So the combined probability of you saving someone from being disqualified is zero (or a number that is very hard to tell apart from zero).
Time-outs just happen. Nothing to be happy about, but also not a huge problem, neither for the timed-out (it’s just a game after all) nor for the others.
Maybe send him a direct message instead and hope that he’ll get an email notification.
I really like the Esperanto flag and the idea behind Esperanto, but I don’t speak it (can just read it a little bit)
Sounds like someone needs to visit LLL~
Is this a feature on the main site? I thought we can only DM (the chat thingie) there. And I’m not sure OGS registration automatically means forum registration, but I might be wrong.
Indeed, that was also my impression. What other kind of DM do we have? Advanced feature, or maybe open to site supporters only?
I thought this Tournament was focused, in its rationale, to strengthen social links between participants. That’s why I have such worries. In other contexts, like e.g. ladder, I would let time go without second thoughts.
I don’t think we have any other difference than stronger AI reviews, fwiw.
It’s just message.
Indeed that’s what I used
Ah, okay.
Yes, I meant this messaging (directly to the person) compared to chatting in the game.
3000 games finished, yay!
So, let it be. Time out in less than two hours now.
My game ended. This one was clean. I waited for 3 days, paused, unpaused, and let it run out.

Sorry, bit later than usual, I nearly forgot it today. Diagrams will follow tomorrow, based on data grabbed now though.
Diagrams:
I suppose the inflexion in the number of games decided is linked to the second wave of timeouts?
What about a t-shirt to celebrate this tournament?
It would be nice.
Go for it!
Not all slow games are abandoned waiting for to be timed out
Look, we got a second move here, when only 44 hours were left on white’s clock:
Runarberg got inspired with slow play
And what about calling it by a short name like TYLC?
