yes i know you disapprove of its use-- but how do you turn it on in those lower time limit games in the settings?

There is no “score indicator”. A go game doesn’t have a score to indicate until both players pass and select dead stones.

It’s like asking for the “proof of delivery” on a FedEx package in transit. It doesn’t exist until the delivery actually happens.

then why is it activated when you play all 13x13 and 19x19 28 day games or ven 7 day games???

Take a look at, say, this game:

What are you calling the “score indicator”? What’s it actually called? And what does it tell you now?

I’m not just trying to be pedantic about a name. I think this is one of your fundamental confusions.

on the side panel while playing a game (right now only multi day games it is usable) is a list of buttons or icons to use one of them it is called score indicator and it shows you who is ahead in points at the exact time and what portion of the board is yours or theirs–

You really see a button called “score indicator”?

It’s an unfair advantage to be looking at a score indicator in a real time game since being able to estimate score quickly and accurately is an important skill to develop. If you’re playing go over the board, no one will tell you whether you’re ahead or behind, you need to figure it our yourself.

In a multi day game, since you have unlimited time, you can always use the time to count every point manually and the tool just saves you some effort to do so. The tool is also purposefully inaccurate since again, getting an accurate score estimate is an unfair advantage.

Well said!

And this is why score estimator is turned off by default in live games. You can also create custom correspondence games with it disabled.

I personally turn off ingame analysis and score estimator for myself (yes, there is a setting for that), because I don’t have willpower to always refrain from clicking through a variation when I should be reading.

The cheating is even deeper. It’s not only about lazyness to count. It’s about evaluation of the status of each group (alive/dead).

Luckily it’s often wrong in complicated cases

@dokbohm I’d like to know the answer to this. I want to know what you’re looking at, since there is nothing that

in Go. Nothing is yours or theirs, and there are no points until there after two passes and the scoring phase.

You know what he’s looking at, and you know that he is misunderstanding what it displays.

I get what you’re doing, but you will never get a straight answer to your question.

If everyone who understands the game better than you is telling you not to use it, why are you still trying to use it?

but i still need an answer how do i turn it on ???

Have already answered. You can’t since it’s cheating to use a score indicator during a live game.
