I’d rather sacrifice someone that might be an enemy rather than someone that most probably is not the enemy but can’t cover me in a mission. That is for today. As we progress, this will change. But we need to keep our numbers strong. Certain people will be targeted anyway.
I still think whoever dies tonight was last night’s target and Leira died protecting them.
The possibility of analyzing these type of patterns is exactly why I’ve been taking snapshots of the vote, just to have a record of where people stand and how they have shifted
Elaborate ploys are always a possibility. No one is committed to keeping their vote fixed and they could change it if necessary. However, if the vote is firmly on another target, one might leave their vote on someone else to mask their intentions and biases.
If one mimic was under heavy suspicion, it might make sense for other mimics to sacrifice them to protect their team. Expect ploys and misdirection.
Why are you so certain that Leira was a bodyguard? Even if they were, why would Leira have protected some other player, not knowing that they were the detective, when conserving the bodyguard ability would be valuable to the innocents?
Right now, it’s a 3-3 tie between @Haze_with_a_Z and @Sports_for_Life, but with 7 other potential votes in play, the vote can easily swing either way.
Interestingly, neither @Haze_with_a_Z nor @Sports_for_Life have cast their vote against the other, which would do the most to protect themselves. However, perhaps they have simply not realized the current voting situation.
Honestly is just a hunch. Leira, as a con artist, was a very perceptive person; I think they had an idea who the detective was (or thought they did) and the mimics came to the same conclusion. So, even if they were wrong, both sides decided that a certain person was the detective.
In any case, if a bodyguard protects themselves they die anyway, so it’s only logical to protect someone else every night, for as long as they can.
Maybe I’m wrong, I should be examining specimens but my brain needed a break, so I came to the break room to get some tea. Hi
If a bodyguard protects their self, they are only killed if they are directly targeted.
If a bodyguard protects someone else, they are killed if either they are directly targeted or who they are guarding is targeted. Hence, it increases the chance of the guards being killed.
Unfortunately, our bodyguards must sacrifice themselves to protect.
I think it is detrimental to lose a bodyguard for protecting a non-detective innocent, so hence I think it is best for the guards to minimize their risk of dying early, since they should save that skill for protecting the detective, which might reveal later.
I believe Leira would have had a similar view (which I expressed on the first day, and I think they would have read). Hence, if Leira was a bodyguard, I don’t think they would have protected someone on the first night.
It’s certainly plausible that the Martians might choose to sacrifice one of their own in a case of extreme suspicion. But it just seems so early in this conflict for them to make that move, since there are still ten innocents.
I’m thinking that since those of us actively participating in discussion are most likely to be targeted by the aliens tonight, I really hope that our detective has had the sense to keep a lower profile and not draw attention to themself.
This is really the only reason that I am not too annoyed by people trying to fly under the radar. Still, it would be nice to hear something from those of you who haven’t really contributed to the discussion.
Just changed my vote from sports to Haze unless someone changes to sports before I sleep because we innocents really need a kill tonight to have a much better shot at winning because one night has passed and I am very used to killing on the second night by vote. For the third day I think maybe we should cast it on sports I dunno.
I am changing my vote to @Haze_with_a_Z because I want extra protection, even though I believe @Cool_Person is suspicous. @Cool_Person one reason is that they are voting for nobody even though we agree that we have to kill someone.
Ruby begrudgingly accepted a third cup of tea from Gia. He didn’t stick around to chit chat, however. He had a lot on his mind and was really missing his family. He retreated to his room to cry think in private.
Zeta Ground Date: 02, 23rd hour of the Martian day
Dear Aunt Hazel,
I don’t know when this correspondence will reach you as we’ve been having trouble communicating with Earth since we arrived. You were right about everything. I don’t trust anyone. I shouldn’t have Other than that everything has gone perfectly! I told you there was no reason to worry. There have been no signs of Martians, the crew gets along great, and I even found out that another member of the crew plays Go, that ancient white and black stone game Joseph and I always used to play. The only real issue I’ve had is that I seem to have misplaced my radio. I can’t let any of the officers find out or I’ll be demoted for sure. I’m fairly positive I just absentmindedly put it down somewhere and will find it soon, you know how I am.
We began preparing the indoor fields today and should be able to begin plant development within the week. It’s challenging work, but I feel as though I’m making a real difference for humanity. If conditions on Earth continue to worsen, our species will depend on the work being done here.
I miss you, Auntie. I hope you’re doing well.
Love,
Ruby
P.S. Did you ever figure out why 27-O-56 stopped reminding you to take your medicine?
Gia remembered a movie she had once seen, for Advanced History (easy extra credit shouldn’t go to waste). It was something about a rat and a guy who was not fun to be around. She chose a couple of cookies from her stash and left them in a plate outside Ruby’s room. She didn’t choose any of her favorites, tho, she’s still Gia.
