I got it this time:
Case 4: the person is innocent. the person will tell the truth and will confirm which oracle is right. Same as Case 1, we kill both oracles.
Case 5: person is innocent and both oracles claim innocent. We do this again the next day.
Basically, a high stakes game where if the oracle’s answers conflict, we both die.
The one who decides not to play the game will be the fake oracle.
The idea is trading off the real oracle (me) for a soulsnatcher, since I don’t know who in their right mind will try to claim to be an oracle if the person is innocent. One of us oracles is a soulsnatcher.
We kill BOTH ORACLES.
What ensues next should be simple: the protector protects himself everyday and slowly whittles down the population until the last soulsnatcher is killed. Game ends.
Does this make sense to everyone?
Investigating the same person makes sense to me.
Killing both oracles afterwards does not.
If one were to truly believe they were the oracle, they would participate and even offer their lives to defend this fact. If not and either Leira or me back out, that person is a soulsnatcher.
Idea is, the real oracle would still play the game and the fake oracle would pull out out of fear of death.
Are you being serious? I thought you might have been sarcastic? Or suffering a logical meltdown?
There are just so many flaws with what you are saying…
- Announcing the investigation target gives information that can help the snatchers
- The fake oracle could just follow the lead of what ever the real oracle says, or just answer truthfully, since a snatcher impersonating the oracle would already know whether everyone was innocent or not
- Any investigation target should always claim that they are innocent (even if they are not), and a snatcher would never admit to being a snatcher just to help identify a fake oracle
Here’s how the soulsnatchers win: they just lie on the first try, both oracles are killed, then it’s 2 soulsnatchers left and we have no way to get any more information.
It’s a pretty ridiculous idea if you ask me.
How might you suggest figuring out the real oracle as fast as possible?
We don’t necessarily have to … we can just continue to collect information from both, and if they snatchers do kill one, that supports the guilt of the other.
That slows the information given to a stop. What ever I say, the other oracle will say the opposite thing. We have no info whatsoever and both oracles will be kept alive until the protector or a good amount of people die.
Also, there won’t be a point in time where we can be sure about who is the real oracle. The snatchers may choose to kill the fake oracle at night to make the other one seem suspicious.
There is one way to find some information: that is if the protector were to be accused of being a snatcher. The protector could come out with the information that they are the protector.
If the protector is lying about it, then we’d find two snatchers, and the real protector could rise up and make a counter claim. This way we’d have a choice between a fake protector / oracle duo and a real protector / oracle duo.
But yeah, with no information given on death, we have no idea how we’re doing until the game just stops at some point.
So what info has Leira found out during the last 2 days?
Butch is innocent and I’m a soulsnatcher?
Sigh… Slow down, think, and read what’s been said…
Translation: The plan would be 50/50 chance of failure/success
Snatchers love that.
If Leira figured out I’m a soulsnatcher on the first night, than why not say anything?
If Leira figured out I’m a soulsnatcher on the second night, it seems too convenient. Why not investigate Haze who I apparently “claim” is a soulsnatcher, or say that earlier on in day 3? Logically, it seems off.
