A lot of topics tend to veer into some linguistic tangent and even though we have topics that are dedicated for linguistic issues, we tend to continue on that tangent within that same topic without any issue and, eventually, return on topic.

Therefore I think that there is a successful track record of veering of topic and returning to it, without the need of “meta threading”.
