That was really tough
My words wound up being:

Working upwards, I got to the top and final row and felt really stuck, such that I thought that I might have to backtrack to change other rows, but changing those seemed quite hard, and then somehow I eventually found “usury” after just putting in “usu” to see how that looked (and realizing that “usurp” was already excluded).

I think that Jewdle is interesting for being a multi-lingual word puzzle with English and non-English words that are focused on a particular culture (I guess the same could also be said about the BTS Wordle). Even though it includes Hebrew, Yiddish, and Aramaic words (all of which I have not formally studied), I found that it’s still quite playable, as a non-Jewish American with significant prior exposure to Jewish culture. Interestingly, I found that both “chazan” and “hazzan” (alternative spellings of the same word) are accepted as valid inputs, whereas “hametz” is not accepted. Yes, “kibitz” is accepted as a valid input.

I’m a little curious how this is technically possible, I know normally cookies and localstorage can not be read across different domains, so how do third-party cookies work really? Is it possible for anyone to set a cookie that can be read from another specific domain, or does the storing operation need to somehow originate from that other domain (even if you are not on that page currently)?
Because surely it shouldn’t have been possible for NYT to have access to your stats if it weren’t the case that they gained control over the original wordle domain? Does this mean that for stats to carry over, you have to visit via the original domain the first time (to let the original domain “export” the data to a third-party cookie or whatever), or is there a workaround for this?

I think there are third-party (tracking) cookies that are specifically designed to work across multiple domains. It is a key tool for advertisers to track everything you do on the web to better target personalized ads.

Right, I’m vaguely aware that something called third-party cookies exist and that they can be used to track you across websites, but thinking about this Wordle migration made me realize that I have no idea how it works 
I did some quick googling before asking and looked at descriptions like that one from Norton, but I guess what I was really interested in was the rules and limitations for how they work.
Like for instance if I own two completely static websites on different domains, is it possible for one of them to set a cookie that the other can read? Looking at this stackoverflow answer it seems like the answer is no, you have to send some type of request to the other domain and have it set “its own” cookie.
So with this method it seems easy for (an updated version of) powerlanguage.co.uk to send your stats over to nytimes.com, when you visit powerlanguage.co.uk after the migration. But let’s say someone last used wordle before NYT had the opportunity to change any code on powerlanguage.co.uk, so their wordle stats are completely stored in localstorage for that domain (at least I assume that’s how he was doing it?). Then today this user visits the new NYT url for wordle. Shouldn’t it then be impossible for that page to know your stats?
It feels to me like there has to happen some kind of temporary redirect back to powerlanguage.co.uk first, but maybe this can happen completely behind the scenes without the user noticing?
(Wow, I had no idea Josh Wardle was also behind “The Button” and “Place” on reddit!)

I knew that English rugose comes from Latin, so I cheated a bit and looked up the root. I’ve known ruga before and forgotten it. I also cheated on the solution by putting a couple of likely forms into Wiktionary – I didn’t even remember ruo, let alone how to conjugate it.

It’s simpler and more direct. The old url redirects to the new one, and packages your stats into the url itself (like nytimes/games/wordle?data=xxx). The new site collects it and puts into its local storage (presumably only if doesn’t have newer stats), and then removes the visible part from the address.

Oh right, that’s an easy way to do it! But this also requires that you visit the old URL first. Were people told to do this, or was this one of the reasons some people didn’t get their stats migrated at first? Or does the new URL automatically send you back and forth to the old one if it detects no stats? (I can’t see that happening on my phone at least)

Maybe it’s possible to momentarily load the old site in a frame, perhaps, even a hidden one.

That was really tough. To get the fourth row, I had to Google for words that end with “YR” to get satyr, and my first two rows were tricky for avoiding letters excluded below. I found buffe by chance of simply entering it in and seeing it accepted.
